@cococreamwafers True, but that’s beside the point. She made it sound like the technology in computers mostly never changes but just the developers swap out the CPU every year to make you upgrade. To someone who has been fixing/upgrading/buildling computers since the age of 13 that detracts a lot of credibility from what you have to say.
I agree with you though, I think there could be a lot done in the way of recycling old computers and such so that we’re not so wasteful.

@Killerah Regarding the flawed sounding computer issue: At first I thought the same. A lot more needs to be changed inside a computer upgrade than just a chip or two. But if you think about it deeper, you should realize, that its the materials, toxic PCBs, plastics, power supplies, precious metals that are truely wasted in the disposal process. Such material as far as I know doesn’t get recycled into its pure atomic elements to make new chips.

Folks spend too much money on stuff they don’t need, which equals poor people in cluttered homes and a polluted environment. Then the pollution gives folks birth-defects and cancer.
As far as the economy there are many alternative things folks could spend money on that have little environmental impact and would actually improve their health and happiness.

Since I was a Computer Chip Designer for 23 years, I’ll speak on her complete ridiculous comments on why computers have to be replaced. If we used her thinking we’d still be using Fast Page RAM (80′s technology) and would be limited to under 10MHz clock speeds. Sorry to tell you, you can’t simply replace all the chips on a motherboard to upgrade the speeds. This video is communism!!!
