Not, profiling. The officer had probable cause to stop the van because it was speeding. He also has the right to determine if the people he has just stopped are wanted for crimes and in doing so would be able to determine their legal status. Bravo for Trooper Zuchelli! All officers should be as a matter of routine checking for immigration status during the course a person being detained or arrested. (you are detained when on a traffic stop).

All illegals run this risk of being caught and deported, it’s hardly racial profiling. You break another law and you’re gone. That’s as it should be, as they shouldn’t be here anyway. And I happily show my ID when necessary, I have no problem with that becoming mandatory for all. Only those with something to hide would be adverse to this. I agree it should be part of police training now, illegality is so prevalent.

even though everyone is saying to fill out the paperwork, i think it’s a lot harder than that. the government shoud make more of an effort to help immigrants become legal. it’s not fair. they are trying to leave home for a reason, no? and what if it were your family?

The pro-illegals bring up the red herring of racial profiling all the time. they don’t have any other reason for stopping the arrest and deportation of illegals, so these scoundrels bring up racial profiling. In the case you just mentioned, the illegals were not Latinos, so the La Razans can’t scream racial profiling. Why should anyone be afraid of proving that they are in the USA legally, unless they are not here legally?

I hope one day that every state trooper and every police officer is trained in the 287g program so we can control who is here in the country, and get rid of the illegal alien invaders!
