    I don’t remember Babette ever contemplating returning to France. Scott says she plans to, but I thought she used all of the lottery winnings to make the feast. Besides, she had admitted she did not have any family to return to. They were all killed. I’m confused.

    Wonderful film. Just watched it for the first time tonight, even though it is set close to my home and I’ve heard about it for 20 years. And the reviewer is absolutely right: the film shows beautifully how physical and spiritual nourishment and love can be but variations of the same aspirations of humans.
