I had seen my friends’ sons/ daughters started to pick up story book to read at age of 2years old.
I have been reading to my children since birth and they both now ‘read’ to each other at 3 and 4. Neither of them can read the words, but they take turns looking at the picture and narrating the story. Some of the Dr. Seuss books they have memorized and can actually do the book word for word, but they’re not reading but reciting.

It really depends on how advanced your child is.
but the average age is about 5 maybe even 4
but whenever you think it’s right you should
hope this helped

There is no real "right" time to "teach" your child to read a book. The best thing you can do for your child’s literacy is to read to them constantly from birth, and to model reading for enjoyment (reading a book yourself, reading the paper or magazine, etc.). Many young children have great memories, and are able to memorise their favourite books, and can pretty much "read" them back to you. Gradually they start to recognise the words themselves, and this starts the process of learning to read.

if you read to your children right from the time you get home from the hospital, you will have children who LOVE to read and will be early readers

you child will start reading when she/he is ready. all you can do is encourage the love of books by reading a lot to them. 2 is very advanced for reading. my daughter is 5 and she is reading easy books.
