“It’s Your Story” – National Museum of American Jewish History

Posted by admin on March 6th, 2010 and filed under stories | 25 Comments »

The new National Museum of American Jewish History (www.nmajh.org), opening in November 2010, is dedicated to telling the still-unfolding story of Jews in America, who embraced freedom with its choices and challenges as they shaped and were shaped by our nation. The Museum envisions its new home as a place that welcomes all people, inviting them to discover what they have in common with the Jewish experience in America, as well as to explore the features that make this history distinctive.

Rising five stories above Independence Mall, in the heart of historic Philadelphia, the National Museum of American Jewish History will join Independence Hall, the National Constitution Center, the Liberty Bell and other landmarks at the hallowed site of America’s birth. There could not be a more fitting place for a museum that will explore the promise and challenges of liberty through the lends of the American Jewish experience.

Nice try but, poorly produced piece.
The text & images go by so quickly
that there is little opportunity to ob-
    serve and digest.

    @marccashman
For the post looking for the name of the narrator… it sounds like Liev Schreiber, who has done a lot of voice over work for PBS programs, including American Experience. He is also narrator for the TV spots for Infiniti,

as we truly know it regardless of its leaders mistakes, its corporate misdeeds, its sensitivity to protecting all people rights even thou those people sometimes reverse that meaning of freedom against this great country!

    English Lesson 2:

    English Lesson 2:
It looks like YOU think YOU are REALLY very smart (It is not necessary to use the word “person”). just BECAUSE YOU speak English better than people from other countries. (Here, you must end with a ‘period’ because it is a complete sentence. Now you can begin a sentence. Otherwise adding the following will result in a run-on sentence: It is REALLY very primitive OF you! (Good, you used an exclamation mark in the right place.) Have a lovely day. ; })

    Would you like Lesson 3?

dont forget only half of the hollywood…..

You do not need the word “the” before the name of a place or person.

I promise I will not forget half of Hollywood.

    Have a nice day! ; })

    “Did you understood …
    “Did you understood first sentence?”

    English Lesson 1:

Did you UNDERSTAND THE first sentence?
(You only need one question mark.)

    “its more than enough!”
    IT’S more than enough!

(You must always begin a sentence with a capital letter, but at least you included an exclamation mark in the correct place.)

  13. msmcis Says:

    “your father was …
“your father was comedian?” Is that a question or an exclamation?

  17. msmcis Says:

    I did not …
I did not understand anything you wrote. Too many spelling mistakes and run-on sentences. What is “dont”? What is “re”? What is “juwes”? What is “senat”?

Were you talking? It seems as though you were typing on your keyboard, unsuccessfully I might add. ; })

  18. redseafish Says:

    your father was …
    your father was comedian ?!
dont forget only half of the hollywood re juwes i am already not talking about your senat ))))))

    Inspiring but …
Inspiring but hardly the first Jewish history museum in the US. NYC has had a fabulous Jewish museum on 5th Avenue for over 100 years. The NYC museum has a much broader scope. Also, the YouTube video is oddly dated to exclude current well known figures of Jewish background. It would be nice to appeal to the YouTube generation.

  20. MLE05 Says:

    Well, yes, it takes …
Well, yes, it takes courage to go to Israel, but we wouldn’t want ALL of the Jews to leave America. Israel may be our homeland, but saying “go back to your homeland” is sort of not a thing in America. Applies to other countries, as well.

acctually.. it was my greath greath grand father Baruch Bento da Costa who was the first jew in surinam.
anyway, i do hope it will have a section spent to those lands/continents.

    Someone once said, …
Someone once said, “Pride is justified self-respect.” I think Jewish people can take pride in what they have given to America. This museum will tell the story that few know because of the sin of omission on the part of the American textbook industry. How do I become a member of the museum?
