If my short story is similar to an established story do I have to cite them?

I’m entering a short story writing contest and came up with a couple of plots. Of the plots, there were some that were similar to established stories. Would I have to cite them just because of a similar plot?

Beauty & The Beast- In my story, one character’s a beast (due to a curse) while the other’s a beauty and they fall in love.
Cinderella- In my story, it’s a modern tale of Cinderella.

I believe those stories are so old and widely known that they are public domain. So no, it’s not necesary.
