I am currently writing several short stories, but I can’t seem to sustain the level o fcreativity needed to let the story flow thru on the screen. After I get started for 10 min, I’m flustered–ideas don’t come to me, and I just lose steam. And I’ve been doing this for quite a while; I’ve had experience with this, I’ve just never done anything about it.
I have the same problem sometimes. What I’ve found is that if I take a break and then come back to a project I tend to find a new steam for it. Other times I sit down and write out a basic synopsis of the story I’m going to write. It’s just a way to get my ideas down on paper without the pressure of having to get everything just right. Hope that helps.

Write an outline – a very detailed outline that brings you from one point to the next, so you know where your story is headed. Try outlining backwards – start with the end of the story and figure out what happened right before that to make the event occur… When you sit down to write, have your outline next to you so you don’t get stuck in writer’s block! Also, even if what you are writing isn’t perfect, just keep writing and push out a story… you can always edit out the bad bits later!

Don’t be a wimp. Writing isn’t just about ideas, prose, dialogue, form, etc. It takes CONSISTENCY to be a pro. If you lack consistency, choose a different hobby. Damn.
