What are your favorite contemporary short stories?

I have been reading the Scribner Anthology and The Shell Collector, both of which are collections of short stories. I am trying to collect some more ideas for reading material so what is your favorite short story?

"In the Cemetery where Al Jolson is Buried" by Amy Hempel. She’s a good author.

Also, look into Stephen King short stories, like his collection Just After Sunset. His short stories are a lot different than his novels (aka. his idea isn’t always to scare you, but to make you think).
