    Sorry to correct you, but what I actually said was that there should be no pressure to speak English in any particular way. If a person chooses a certain accent then that is all well and good. My point is (and will always be) that if you can be clearly understood when speaking, then you do not have to knock yourself out trying to sound like another person…and believe me I have seen young students actually cry because they feel so frustrated over this dilemma.

    in one of your videos,you said that it doesn’t matter if one speaks English with the accent of a native speaker or not,as long as one is understood by others. I believe accent does matter in that the accent of a native speaker generates a respect and a love in other native speakers that are not felt when it’s spoken with a non-native speaker’s accent. An accent may or may not cause a feeling of kinship in others depending on both the speaker and the receiver
