I’m thinking of putting together a book of short stories and poems i’ve written and I wanted to know how long it should be so that it is elligable to be published.
Contact publishers or an agency for those answers. Again, it just depends upon how big you want the book?
You have to have manuscripts, then submit them. Always expect rejections at first. It happens to everyone. Don’t give up, keep trying. If you have an agent, let him do that talking for you.

You should focus on QUALITY, not quantity.
Think about it.

90,000 words is the maximum limit because publishing costs are much higher after that threshold. For a short story/poetry collection, I would recommend a slim volume, perhaps 200 pages or less.
