Have you ever read anything by Elizabeth Gaskell?
I recommend North and South: think pride and prejudice, only better (if you can believe it–my best friend is a die-hard Austen fan, even she agrees N&S was better)

Sylvia’s Lovers: Sylvia’s cousin Philip loves her, but she loves Charlie Kinraid. When Kinraid returns to his ship, he is press-ganged, which Philip witnesses. Philip keeps this information from Sylvia, wanting her to believe Kinraid is dead. She eventually gives up hope and gives in to Philip’s proposals. They get married and have a child… Then Kinraid returns and she discovers that Philip knew he was still alive. Drama ensues.

Wives and Daughters: Molly’s widowed father remarries, her new stepsister becomes engaged to the man that Molly loves…

Also, My Cousin Rachel by du Maurier is wonderful if you liked the suspense of Rebecca! Basically, Philip was raised by his cousin, Ambrose, whose health starts to fail so Ambrose moves to Italy where he falls in love, and gets married. Then he dies and his wife moves up to England. Philip falls in love with her, but soon starts to suspect foul play in Ambrose’s death. One of her more popular novels.

I didn’t give any of the descriptions justice, but I didn’t want to give too much away. Be aware that Gaskell does use dialect in her books; I particularly remember this in N&S, not as much in W&D–it does take a little bit to get used to, but I didn’t find it difficult to understand. Most editions also have footnotes/explanatory notes, which I like. She isn’t as well known as Austen, Bronte, etc., which is really a pity because her writing is quite comparable. Anything by either of these authors is bound to be good though!

I would like to recommend a book called Summerset by an author called Karen Mason. It's about a young girl who falls in love with her best friend's husband and there are loads of complications and stuff. I think you can get it on Amazon.

city of bones novel

by cassandra clare

it has love/romance and it all turns out to be forbidden love!

stephanie meyers name is on the front cover of each of the books saying how much she loves it

it is so good that there considering making it into a movie. type into youtube city of bones and you’ll see the cast and a bit about the book .

it really does have one big complication init and a few little ones

You HAVE to read The Bronze Horseman by Paulina Simons, it's beautiful, complicated, tragic, definitely NOT teenage! Also, Memoirs Of A Geisha by Arthur Golden is a love story spanning a decade, it's gorgeous.

Try reading anything by Judith Mcnaught. I recently read her collection of books and i cried for each and every one of them. You fall in love with the characters and there is always a complicated twist to every story. She is amazing!

I recommend Nicholas Sparks and Danielle Steel. Nicholas Sparks gets you crying everytime. Doesn't matter if its tears of joy or sadness, YOU WILL CRY! xD
