This is a short interview with him after a recent visit to Berkeley’s journalism school. He talks about online video, the future of journalism, and his year in the ‘hot zone.’

Avatar Days – HD

Posted by admin on June 17th, 2010 and filed under short stories online | 25 Comments »

This is short film directed by Gavin Kelly ( http://www.piranhabar.ie ) we worked on a while ago called “Avatar Days”. What makes this one special is the fact that it was filmed, vfx’ed and comped all in just 4 days. It was made as part of the “4 day Film” catagory in the Darklight Film Festival.

It follows 4 MMORPG players taking about their online persona’s. As they tell their stories we see them go about their everyday lives against the mundane backdrop of city life…but as their Avatars.

There was a team of people on this with director Gavin Kelly leading the troupe. I worked on the 3d characters along with John O’ Connell and Will Sharkey.

John O’ Connell was 3D Lead.

Is On Line Banking Safe? – Identity Theft Speaker John Sileo

Posted by admin on June 9th, 2010 and filed under short stories online | 1 Comment »

http://www.sileo.com/2009/02/23/is-online-banking-is-safe-from-identity-theft/ Identity theft speaker and expert John Sileo speaking on this video about On-Line banking and identity theft risk. The professional ID Theft speaker gives keynotes seminars and workshops on personal and business privacy.
I am starting to reconsider my opinion that online banking is safer than traditional banking. Primarily because I have been hearing horror stories during some of my identity theft seminars. But now I am seeing it in the mainstream media. Case in point: read this short article in this mornings USA Today about Hackers Swarming Bank Accounts. Im open to your opinions, but I feel like the thieves are starting to win. In a YouTube video post I did some time ago about online banking, I suggested that if your computer is well-protected, you are better to bank online.
But lately, it seems like the thieves are a step ahead. What are your thoughts? Have you had any troubles with identity being compromised because of the types of threats discussed in the article?
