So Close (The Anne and Gilbert Story)

Posted by admin on February 28th, 2010 and filed under story books | 25 Comments »

PLEASE READ for Video Information:

I have loved the Anne of Green Gables Series eversince I first laid my eyes on the first book when I was in grade school. Aside from Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, Gilbert Blythe and Anne Shirley were also one of my most loved couples in the world of literature. I have the entire series for crying out loud! LOL!

Although the movies (especially the last one) were very different from the books, I loved how Megan Follows and Jonathan Crombie brought my most beloved pair to life.

Like the first scene of this music video, wherein Anne, after a long and tiring journey and losing all hope, all of a sudden finding Gilbert amidst the lost crowd, that was soooo priceless… I mean the look on both their faces! It was amazing! It was like they were lost and all of a sudden both of them are home. I’m so glad Megan Follows and Jonathan Crombie played Anne and Gilbert up until the end. It was brilliant!

So basically, this video is all about the life of Anne and Gilbert, from the moment they met to the time that they got married.

I hope the people here who have loved Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe will also if not love atleast like my music video…

Three cheers to Gilbert and Anne!
And to Lucy Maud Montgomery for sharing such a lovable story…
And to Megan and Jonathan for bringing Anne and Gilbert to life…

If you have the time please comment and rate! Thanks!

Here’s the Lyrics of So Close, which is also by the way the OST of the movie Enchanted:

You’re in my arms
And all the world is calm
The music playing on for only two
So close together
And when I’m with you
So close to feeling alive

A life goes by
Romantic dreams will stop
So I bid mine goodbye and never knew
So close was waiting, waiting here with you
And now forever I know
All that I wanted to hold you
So close

So close to reaching that famous happy end
Almost believing this was not pretend
And now you’re beside me and look how far we’ve come
So far we are so close

How could I face the faceless days
If I should lose you now?
We’re so close
To reaching that famous happy end
And almost believing this was not pretend
Let’s go on dreaming for we know we are
So close
So close
And still so far

Hope you guys will enjoy the video! :D

The Making of The Red Book

Posted by admin on February 28th, 2010 and filed under story book | 15 Comments »

Carl Jung’s The Red Book is considered to be the most influential unpublished work in the history of psychology.

When Carl Jung embarked on an extended self-exploration he called his confrontation with the unconscious, the heart of it was The Red Book, a large, illuminated volume he created between 1914 and 1930. Here he developed his principle theories—of the archetypes, the collective unconscious, and the process of individuation—that transformed psychotherapy from a practice concerned with treatment of the sick into a means for higher development of the personality.

While Jung considered The Red Book to be his most important work, only a handful of people have ever seen it. Now, in a complete facsimile and translation, it is available to scholars and the general public. It is an astonishing example of calligraphy and art on a par with The Book of Kells and the illuminated manuscripts of William Blake. This publication of The Red Book is a watershed that will cast new light on the making of modern psychology.

Which British film critic wrote a book in 80s or early 90s that told the before and after story of film plots?

Posted by admin on February 27th, 2010 and filed under story critics | 1 Comment »

He would take a character from a film like Chinatown and write mini-biographies of them–the middle of the biography would be the story of the film, but the first and last parts he would invent. So it was like a book of short stories. I read the book in 1991. I thought it was called The Usual Suspects but years of searching tell me it was not.

What are some really good short stories?

Posted by admin on February 27th, 2010 and filed under short stories | 2 Comments »

I need some really good short stories that have deeper meaning/provoke thought. They should be less than about 15 pages. THe less the better. I am compiling a book of short stories, and I already have a lot of scary/creepy ones, so preferably not those types, although if that’s all you can think of then that’s fine

Do you have these two? They’re really short, and they’re classics.

‘Sole Solution’ by Eric Frank Russell (3 pages) — just read it, there’s no way to do it justice with a summary. Incredibly thought provoking for anyone.

‘Answer’ by Fredric Brown (1/2 page) — google it. It’s so short, it’s all over the net.

If I remember any other thought-provokers, I’ll update you.

What is a good story to write about that can have 3 different perspectives?

Posted by admin on February 27th, 2010 and filed under story | 2 Comments »

Okay so I want to write a story that is one story but is told separately by 3 different characters that have three points of view. One of them has to be what really happened. It can be a high school/drama/relationship sort of thing. Please brainstorm, I’d greatly appreciate it!

I was thinking of doing this too. Write a story about 3 high school drama queens who start off as best friends. But eventually, as they all go their own paths and turn on each other for friends, revenge, boys etc., they start to hate eachother. In the end, you decide: do they make up or continue to hate eachother?
this would be interesting from 3 views- make two girls tell totally different stories and make one girl tell the truth.
